FacilitatorCheryl began her yoga journey 10 years ago when she walked into Power Yoga Buffalo. She immediately felt something new and unique and was intrigued by the physicality and emotional energy that consumed her. With the desire to spread this love of yoga to everyone, she started HEAL Bflo with her best friend to create unique yoga events all over WNY. She has completed a 200hr, Baptiste Level 1, Art of Assisting and various other yoga trainings. Teaching yoga is the most incredible experience. The people, the community, the love and friendships has created a life that fills her up everyday. Cheryl currently teaches at Power Yoga Buffalo, Buffalo State College, M&T Bank, Evergreen Health Services and private/group classes.
She teaches a powerful vinyasa flow designed to challenge you both physically and emotionally. She wants you to come out of your head and into your body every time you show up on your mat, reminding yourself that you get to create the life you love. Facilitator - AnatomyCory started taking Yoga classes at Buffalo State College to increase his flexibility. Yoga became an outlet to test his limits and make progress in ways that he never saw as attainable. Yogis in Service gave Cory the opportunity to take part in a 12 week Trauma-informed teacher training. This enabled him to grow and become a teacher that has fallen in love with the practice. Cory, being Trauma-informed as well as 95 hour CRYT, recognizes that yoga should be for everyone. Recently, through completing his 200-hour psychotherapeutic yoga certification it has brought light to the unspoken. Recognizing that everyone's background is different and meeting each individual where they are, is something that can't be taught, but must be experienced. Cory will give you insight on how the mind and the body can, and will change, according to you. Yoga has become a cornerstone in his life and enabling others to cultivate their practice is what keeps Cory inspired to push people towards their choice, growth and freedom.
His mission is to create a space for people of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds to push themselves and test their limits creating a community of individuals that strive to be better than they were before. Recognizing our strengths and weaknesses and loving ourselves enough to emphasize our strengths and prepare for our weaknesses so that we may take on the world with an open mind, an open heart and the will to be who we truly are. |
FacilitatorCourtney found Baptiste Yoga at PYB a little over seven years
ago. Never having practiced yoga before, she found she was smiling through the confusion, sweat, and tears and never stepped foot off her mat after that. Having completed Level 1 (with Cheryl), Art of Assisting, and Art of True North Alignment, yoga teacher mentorships & trainings, she has both lead and attended numerous 40 days programs and workshops. At one point, she managed a Baptiste studio in Denver where she assisted and led trainings to the yoga team. Now she is back home where she belongs (Buffalonian for life)! Yoga has brought her so much more than just a practice. It has taught her to stop, breathe, accept and speak from a place of her true self. She leads her classes with this in mind and pushes her students to find their voice…both on and off the mat. Community and connection, along with leadership and confidence is what she builds into her classes growing alongside everyone who walks in the room. Facilitator - HumanitiesIt was a Hatha yoga class for one credit at the University of Buffalo more than 12 years ago that piqued Candice’s curiosity. It seemed to come out of nowhere, but at the end of the semester, she knew she wanted to become a yoga teacher. She couldn’t fully explain why but she didn’t question that gut instinct(intuition). This intuition led her to her first 200 hours of Hatha Yoga training with the Himalayan Institute Buffalo and shortly after, to what would become 500+ hours of training in Baptiste Yoga. Most recently that same intuition led her into 200 hours of Instinctive Meditation teacher training.
Her yoga practice and its way of linking mind, body and heart is the foundation for her continuous evolution as a leader and plays a key role in her ability to trust in something bigger than herself(Universe, God, Prana, whatever you want to call it). It is her intention as a leader to create classes and programs that offer a real life, relatable connection to traditional yogic philosophies through movement, mindfulness, meditation and intuition. It is her experience that these teachings are the cornerstone for lifelong growth and help pave a sustainable path to joy. Candice is honored and humbled to deliver the humanities portion of your 200 hour training and is certain these tools will assist you in finding your most authentic voice! |
